Ingredients
  • Broken wheat: 1 cup (200 gm)
  • Ghee: 4 Tbsp
  • Coconut milk (approx from 2 coconut or use coconut milk powder)
  • First coconut milk: 1 and 1/2 cup
  • Second coconut milk: 2 and 1/2 cup
  • Jaggery: 500g
  • Cashew nut: as required
  • Raisins: as required
  • Cardamom powder: 1/4 tsp

Initial preparation

  • Wash and clean the broken wheat.
  • Heat the ghee in a pan and put the broken wheat and saute well for few minutes and keep it aside.
  • Dissolve and boil the jaggery in to two cups of water until the jaggery is completely dissolved.
  • Prepare the first and second extract of coconut milk.
  • Fry the cashew nut and raisins in ghee.

Steps

  • Pressure cook the ghee mixed broken wheat in 2 and 1/2 cup of water until 3 whistles.
  • Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and add second extract of coconut milk.
  • Add the jaggery water in.
  • Allow it to boil and cook until it becomes thick.
  • Add the first extract of coconut milk and keep it for  few seconds, do not boil it.
  • Remove from fire and add fried cashew nuts and raisins and cardamom powder or cardamom.
