  • Cabbage: 250 gm
  • Carrot: 2 medium
  • Grated coconut: 1 cup
  • Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic pods: 3-4 nos.
  • Green chilly: 1
  • Shallots: 3-4 nos.
  • Dried chilly: 1 or 2 nos
  • Salt: to taste
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds
  • Oil
Cuisine: Cooking time: 15 mins Serving: 3-4 people

Initial Preparations:

  • Clean, grate cabbage and carrot into fine pieces.
  • Chop shallots, green chilly and garlic pods.
  • Grind together the grated coconut, half of turmeric powder, cumin powder, garlic pods, green chilly and 1 or 2 curry leaves and keep aside.

  1. Heat oil in a pan and crackle mustard seeds.
  2. Add chopped shallots, when it becomes light brown, add dried chilly and curry leaves.
  3. Add grated cabbage and carrot mix and saute well.
  4. Add the rest turmeric powder, salt and a little water to it and cover it with a lid after mixing well.
  5. Allow it to cook well. Put the ground paste into it, cover it with grated carrot and cabbage mix.
  6. After a few minutes, saute well till it becomes dry.
  7. Put curry leaves, if necessary.
