Ingredients
  • Chakkakuru / Jack fruit seeds: 15-20 nos.
  • Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
  • Salt: as required
  • Small onions (shallots): 10-15 nos
  • Garlic: 4-5 pods
  • Dried chilly: 2-3
  • Curry leaves
  • Ground pepper: 1/4 tsp (2 pinches)
  • Mustard seeds
  • Oil

CHAKKAKURU MEZHAKKUPERATTY / JACKFRUIT SEEDS STIR FRY

Initial Preparations:

  • Clean and cut chakkakuru into medium lengthy pieces.
  • Cook the seeds by adding turmeric powder, salt and enough water in a medium flame until water has evaporated completely. Keep it aside.
  • Crush small onions and garlic.

Steps:

  1. Heat oil in a pan, crackle mustard seeds.
  2. Add crushed garlic followed by small onions.
  3. Add sliced dried chilly and curry leaves.
  4. Add the cooked jackfruit seeds and saute well in a medium flame.
  5. Sprinkle pepper powder and mix well.
  6. Fry it well until it turns crispy.
  7. Enjoy it with rice.. 🙂

Tips:

  • Add fried coconut pieces (small and thin sliced) will give excellent taste.
