Ingredients
  • Grated Coconut: 1/2 cup
  • Shallots: 8-10 nos.
  • Red Chilly: 1
  • Ginger: a small cube
  • Curry Leaves
  • Red Chilly Powder: 1 Tbsp
  • Tomato: 1
  • Water: 1/2 cup
  • Salt
  • Mustard seeds
  • Coconut Oil
Cuisine: Cooking time: 15 mins Serving: 3 people

Initial Preparations:

  • Cut shallots and tomato into fine pieces.
  • Crush ginger into small pieces.
  • Keep all the other ingredients ready.

Coconut Chutney

Steps:

  1. Grind together grated coconut, 3-4 shallots, 2-3 curry leaves, chilly powder and salt.
  2. Heat oil in a pan.
  3. Add remaining sliced small onions (shallots) and ginger when mustard seeds starts spluttering.
  4. Add dried red chilly and curry leaves.
  5. Add sliced tomato and saute well to mix it.
  6. Add the ground coconut paste to it and saute it.
  7. Add enough water and mix well.
  8. Add salt if required.
  9. Serve it hot with dosa and idli.
