Ingredients
  • Rice flour/ Puttu podi: 2 cup
  • Grated coconut: 1 cup
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Banana: 2 Nos.
Cuisine: Cooking time: 15 mins Serving: 2-3 people

Initial Preparations:

  • Prepare salt water with salt and warm water.
  • Fill the cooker or puttu kudam with enough water.
  • Peel and chop banana into medium sized pieces and keep aside.

Steps:

  1. In a bowl, take rice powder.
  2. Sprinkle enough salt water into it, to make it wet.
  3. Keep on mixing well by breaking small lumps formed.
  4. In a puttu kutty, add a little grated coconut forming a thin layer, followed by a handful of wet flour and a layer of chopped bananas.
  5. Add enough wet flour to fill the puttu kutty. Add some more coconut and chopped bananas on the top of that. (If necessary, add coconut in between the flour, to make it more tastier).
  6. Steam the puttu for 10-15 minutes, by placing it on the top of a pressure cooker or puttu kudam.
  7. Enjoy it with a little ghee and sugar, if needed.

Tips:

  • It is more easier to get powdered form of wet flour by grinding for 1 minute in a mixer or grinder.
