For marinating
  • Chicken: 500g
  • Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
  • Chilly powder: 1 tsp
  • Garam masala: 1/4 tsp
  • Vinegar/Lemon juice: 1 tsp
  • Salt: to taste
For Masala
  • Onion: 2 medium
  • Ginger: 1inch piece
  • Garlic: 4-5 pods
  • Green chilly: 2
  • Coriander powder:1/2 tsp
  • Chilly powder (optional):1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder: a pinch
  • Meat masala: 3/4 tsp
  • Pepper powder: 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves
  • Oil
Cuisine: Cooking time: 35-40 mins Serving: 3 people

Initial Preparations:

  • Clean and cut the chicken into medium sized pieces.
  • Marinate the chicken pieces with marination ingredients and keep aside for an hour.
  • Cut onion, ginger, garlic and green chilly into thin slices.


  1. Cook the marinated chicken with 1/2 cup of water until cooked.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the chicken until it is crispy under low flame.
  3. Heat oil in another pan, put ginger and garlic, once it is done add onion green chillies, and curry leaves.
  4. Once onion turns soft, add turmeric, coriander powder, pepper powder and garam masala, saute for a minute.
  5. Now add the prepared chicken, roast until it is dry and make sure the masala mix well with the chicken.
