  • Mushroom: 2 cups
  • Onion: 1 medium
  • Grated coconut: 1/3 cup
  • Garlic: 1 Tbsp
  • Green chilly: 3-4 Nos.
  • Small onions: 3-4 Nos.
  • Urad dal:1 Tbsp
  • Dried chilly: 1-2
  • Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilly powder: 1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala:1/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds: 2 pinch
  • Curry leaves
  • Dried chilly: 1-2
  • Mustard seeds
  • Oil
Cuisine: Cooking time: 15-20 mins Serving: 3 people

Initial Preparations:

  • Chop onion, garlic and green chilly into small pieces.
  • Make a coarse ground mix with grated coconut, green chillies, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chilly powder, garam masala, small onion and garlic by adding a little water.
  • Wash and clean mushroom, cut it into medium sized pieces.



  1. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
  2. Add dried chillies followed by curry leaves and urad dal.
  3. When urad dal becomes brown, add chopped onion, salt and saute till it becomes translucent.
  4. Add the ground coconut mix and fry it in low flame till it become dry.
  5. Add chopped mushrooms cover it and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. After five minutes, open the lid and wait until it is dry.
  7. Add more curry leaves and remove from flame.

Works well with rice 🙂


  • It is better to clean the mushroom just before cooking, otherwise the color may change.
