Ingredients
  • Broken green moong: 1 cup
  • Dessicated coconut: 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilly: 1-2 nos.
  • Shallots: 5-6 nos.
  • Dried chilly: 1-2 nos.
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds
  • Oil
Cuisine: Cooking time: 20 mins Serving: 4-5 people

Initial Preparations:

  • Wash and clean the broken moong and keep it aside.
  • Make ground paste with dessicated coconut, 2 small onions, turmeric and cumin powders by adding enough water.
  • Cut small onions, green chillies and keep aside.

Steps:

  1. Dry roast the cleaned moong and pressure cook it with green chillies, salt and sufficient amount of water (the level should be twice more than the level of moong).
  2. Mash well the cooked moong, and add the ground paste into it and mix well.
  3. Allow this mix to boil for 5 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds.
  5. Add small onion, dried chillies and curry leaves.
  6. Pour this seasoning into the cooked moong and cover it for a few minutes.
  7. Mix well before serving.

Goes well with warm rice. 😉

Tips:

  • Add enough water according to the consistency you wanted.
  • Pour little ghee with it while serving.
