Ingredients
  • Potato: 2 (medium) Nos.
  • Onion: 1 No.
  • Ginger: 1/2 tsp (chopped)
  • Garlic: 2-3 pods
  • Green chilly: 1 Nos.
  • Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
  • Chilly powder (optional): a pinch
  • Pepper powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Salt
  • Dried chilly:1 (If using crushed red chilly, take 3/4tsp)
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds
  • Oil
Cuisine: Cooking time: 15-20 mins Serving: 3 people

Initial Preparations:

  • Peel the potato, wash and cut it into thin lengthy pieces.
  • Cut onion, green chilly, ginger and garlic in to slices.
  • Cook potato pieces along with a pinch of turmeric powder, enough salt and water for 10-15 minutes. Allow the water to evaporate.

Steps:

  1. Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds.
  2. Add dried chilly in to pieces.
  3. Add sliced onion with a little salt to get it translucent faster.
  4. Add ginger, garlic and saute well.
  5. Add green chilly and curry leaves.
  6. Add remaining turmeric powder and chilly powder.
  7. Add cooked potatoes into it and mix well, not breaking the pieces.
  8. Add pepper powder and mix well.
  9. Add  curry leaves and remove from flame.
