Ingredients
  • Banana flower : 1
  • Small onion : 2-3
  • Garlic : 3 pods
  • Green chilly: 1
  • Dried red chilly: 1
  • Coconut : 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin powder : 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves
  • Coconut oil
  • Mustard seed
  • Salt
Cuisine: Cooking time: 25-30 mins Serving: 3-4 people

Initial preparations

  • Slice the small onions.
  • Coarsely grind grated coconut, green chilly, garlic, 1-2 curry leaves, turmeric powder, cumin powder.
  • Remove the outer hard leaves of banana flower until you see the lighted colored part.
  • Wash it well, and chop it , and mix it well with little coconut oil keep aside.

Steps:

  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Add mustard seed, add sliced onion once it is spluttered.
  3. Add dried chilly and curry leaves.
  4. Add chopped banana flower, salt and saute well.
  5. Sprinkle very little water (if necessary)and cook for 4-5 minutes.
  6. Group it together and pour the ground paste on top.
  7. Before mixing the ground paste, close it with a lid and and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Mix it well keeping it in low flame for few minutes.

Goes well with rice 😉

Tips:

  • If you like you could add some Urad Dal, fried along with mustard seeds.
